About Connie
Sis. Connie Major has been married to Reverend Roger Major for the past thirty nine years. With this union, three wonderful children were added: Shanice Major-Williams, Shawn Major-Stewart, and Johnathan Major. Additionally, Connie was blessed with awesome grandchildren––Quinn Michael & Kendyl Marie Williams, and Novee Aliza Stewart.
Sis. Connie is a dedicated, hard working member of First Community Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor A. C. Jefferson. She is a servant that is willing to work in any area, to lend a helping hand where needed. She is the formerly the president of the FCBC Mission department, ‘stand-in’ Sunday School teacher, committed choir member, willing worker in the children’s ministry and the children’s choir, and she’s served as chairperson for the Pastor and Wife’s Annual, Men and Women Day Annual, and Friends & Family Day Annual. Currently, Connie continues to serve as the Praise and Worship leader for this vital ministry.
Sis. Connie is a graduate of Sowela Technical Community College, where she earned an Associate degree in Office Systems Technology. She accepted the Lord in her life at the early age of fifteen, and has been serving the Lord––“Under Construction” ever since!
Her passion has always been to minister through music. She’s a local recording artist, and along with her former Pastor Adam J. Stevens (since 1998) she’s recorded songs such as: Standing in the Midst of a Storm, Give Me the Strength,
and Stay Encouraged.
Connie is also a member of the local acapella group known as “The Echoes of Praise," founded in 2006 by Pastor Mary G. Ringo. The group consists of vocalists Pam Warren, Connie Major, and Pastor Mary Ringo.
The Echoes of Praise were featured at a Campaign for America’s Future in New Orleans, LA, with former Vice President Al Gore in 2007, and again in Washington, D.C. at the “Take Back America Conference”
with Oval Office hopefuls, Hillary Clinton, Mitt Romney, James Edwards, and former President Barack Obama.
Sis Connie Major follows the scripture that says “Let everything that hath breath, praise the Lord.”––Ps. 150:6.
God loves to be praised, and she believes a lot of her blessings have come through her praise, crediting the quote which says, “When praises go up, blessings come down.”
She continues to praise God, striving daily to let her light shine, so that others may see Christ in her, and desire to join God’s family as well.
